Made by me: A(nother) hooded capelet

Another day, another hooded capelet. I like this one because it sort of looks like it’s made out of grey sweatshirt material, but is in fact wool.

The rest of my outfit:

Dress: Calvin Klein (purchased at Loehmann’s)
Tights: Uniqlo
Boots: Thrifted

Made by me: A hooded capelet

I've always wanted to make a hooded cape/capelet/cloak, but for some reason I never had until a couple of days ago. Personally I think they're the perfect thing on a chilly day to throw on over an outfit you don't want hidden. Plus if it's raining - you have a hood. Magic.

The rest of my outfit:

Sweater: Forever 21
Blouse: Banana Republic, thrifted from What’s Upstairs in Portland
Pants: J.Crew
Boots: Nordstrom Rack
Belt: Forever 21
Earrings: Boutique in Portland

Made by me: Hooded grey coat

As promised, here are the photos of Tina’s finished wool coat. Complete with lining, hood, toggles, zipper, and pockets.

The rest of my outfit:

T-shirt: Gap
Jeans: Nordstrom
Boots: Estate Sale – $5!

Should it weird me out that I bought the boots from an estate sale? It did at first, but then I sprayed some Lysol in there and got over it.

PS. Thankyouthankyouthankyou Tina!

Made by me: A cloak for Megan

Remember Steve’s cousin Megan from last week’s post? In addition to the two dresses I made her, she also recently asked me to make her a capelet. At this very moment she should be wearing it among the fall foliage in New York City, but the good ol’ USPS screwed up the “guaranteed 12pm delivery time” by delivering it at 4:00pm…right about the time Megan was halfway to NYC. It’s not surprising that it got messed up considering the first Post Office I went to here in Vancouver, WA doesn’t have the ability to overnight a package (It’s in a Hallmark store. Silly me for expecting otherwise.), and at the second one I was behind a woman shipping a box marked “parole clothes”.  Why isn’t there a reality t.v. show set here?

Thanks again Megan!!

Made by me: ’tis the season to wear capelets

This capelet may look familiar, and that's because the first grey wool capelet already sold on Etsy. I figured I better get a second one up real quick. They're identical, except that this new one only has three buttons at center front. To see it for sale on Etsy, click here.

Made by me: A jacket in a different size!

I finally made a size medium jacket! As I mentioned yesterday, I hate grading patterns so it took me a while to get the gumption to accomplish grading a size small jacket to a size medium. There are a LOT of seams that need to be increased/adjusted. Next on the agenda? A size large! The sky’s the limit my friends.

**The jacket is a bit big on me. Apparently I have no medium-sized friends here in Vancouver who could act as my model.

The rest of my outfit:

Pants: J.Crew
Boots: Thrifted from Beacon’s Closet

The details: Women’s size medium high fold-over asymmetrical collar jacket with a floral lining, single welt pockets and button closure. It has a back box pleat, 1/4″ top stitching and fabric-covered buttons at the collar and center front. It is made of grey wool and is fully lined.
